Tomentosum – Snow-In-Summer.
Flowers white in June and July.
A well-known “carpeter”, forming
a mat of greyish foliage, covered at the season
with white flowers. Easily grown, and not particular
as to soil; may be used as an edging for beds
or borders, and kept in order by cutting back.
It may be propagated from bits of the root, or
from seed sown in May in boxes, and helped with
shade and moisture according to the weather. There
is an “improved” variety, C. Biebersteinii,
which is stronger-growing, and has larger flowers
than the older kind.
